- What are the distinguishing features of the American wall mounted closet system?
-
Rather than the usual UK shelf depth of 20", all our shelves and partitions are the American closet industry standard depth of 14" (355mm). This means that folded items such as sweaters and tee-shirts fit neatly on the shelves, with hanging items more visible and accessible as they hang proud of the system.
- What does "wall mounted" actually mean?
-
The closet is literally hung from a steel rail that we attach to your wall. One of the benefits is that nothing need touch the floor, leaving it clear, clutter free and easy to clean.
- What is it made of?
-
The system is made of 18mm laminated MDF with a 2mm edge banding. Unlike solid wood, MDF does not warp or crack, and is easy to wipe clean.
- What finishes do you have?
-
The current finishes are Maple and Wenge, though a third colour will be available by end 2007.
- Why are your drawers made of cedar?
-
Cedar contains naturally occurring organic compounds which give a distinctive aroma, and although it's pleasant to humans it's proven to be a deterrent to most insects, particularly moths and silverfish.
- Is there a back to the system?
-
The system has no back. It is not needed for the structure or support because the system is attached to the wall. From an aesthetic point of view it gives you the flexibility to decorate your whole closet as you would a room.
- Is the system adjustable?
-
Yes, the system is fully adjustable. The standard shelves and poles are easily adjustable up or down, and the fixed shelves with the use of a screwdriver. We can provide an adjustability guide to help you.
- How quickly can I have it?
-
The lead time from placing of an order to installation is approximately 4 weeks for walk in closets and approximately 6 to 8 weeks for closets with doors.
- How long does it take to install?
-
The average closet can be installed in one day, though multiple rooms may take longer. Our installers are experienced and highly professional, and since all the components are cut and prepared off site the whole process is clean and hassle free. Your closet is then ready to use immediately.
- Do I need to do anything before you arrive to install?
-
The space should be clear and the walls decorated.
- We plan to move again in a couple of years. Can I take my closet with me?
-
Your closet can be moved, though since it will have been custom designed to fit a particular space it may need redesigning for the new location.
- Does the closet need to be installed before the flooring goes down?
-
Either way is fine, and if you have an existing carpet that's fine too. Since the system is wall mounted it doesn't affect the flooring, however for closets with doors we prefer to install before new flooring is laid.
- Can I add accessories at a later date?
-
Of course. If for instance you decide you need an extra tie rack, we'll just mail it out to you with an installation guide.
- I love gadgets. What do you have?
-
We have a comprehensive range of closet accessories which we import from the US, and we are constantly sourcing new and interesting products.
