Andrea Catherwood, 38, has been under fire as a war reporter in Baghdad, but back at home, she indulges her feminine side with a walk-in wardrobe. She lives in west London with her husband and three children.

Did you always lust after a dressing space?
"When we bought our house in 2007, it had to be totally renovated, so that gave me the chance to create my fantasy walk-in wardrobe. It's about 8ft by 14ft, and a company called Manhattan Closets (0844 800 0024) helped me design it".

Can you ever have too much space for shoes?
"Planning the wardrobe was guilt-inducing as I actually had to own up to how many shoes I have. I thought I had about 15 pairs and then found it was 35 – although I've built space for 50! I made the decision not to buy any more clothes, unless they fit into the wardrobe."

Does your husband get any space?
"No, it's all for me. I have a rack for work clothes (suits from Joseph and Maria Grachvogel), one for off-duty clothes (Marni, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Zara and Topshop), one for evening dresses and another for tops. Then there are drawers for underwear and shelves for jumpers and T-shirts."

How long does it take you to get ready?
"About an hour for my show on a Sunday, but that includes catching up with what’s in the papers, showering, drying my hair and getting dressed. I get my make-up done at the studio."
